Dr. Michael Magdalinski, Ph.D, BCBC

Dr. Michael Magdalinski, a licensed psychologist in Wyomissing, PA, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, he was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Dr. Magdalinski earned his doctorate at St Louis University and completed his clinical internship at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Currently, he is practicing at Reading Hospital Weight Loss Surgery and Wellness Center. As an integral member of their weight loss surgery team, he provides pre and post-counseling, facilitates support groups, and conducts pre-surgical evaluations.

Recognizing the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led to his fellowship with AABC. AABC awarded him an academic scholarship. Rachael Buckner. RN, CMSRN, a Registered Nurse from Concord, North Carolina has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Rachael completed her professional nursing education and training program at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, in Concord, NC, and now has more than 18 years of clinical experience. Her clinical experience includes a specialty in bariatric care.

Personal experience and transformation after her bariatric surgery sparked an interest in helping others overcome obesity and related disorders. Dr. Elena Rivera, PsyD, a behavioral analyst and licensed clinical psychologist in the State of Arizona has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Dr. Rivera earned her doctorate at Argosy University. She currently practices with Banner Behavioral Health in Peoria, AZ and her private practice, Holistic Behavioral and Psychological Services in Scottsdale, AZ. Her specialties include the identification and treatment of behavioral and eating disorders that can impact mood and adaptive functioning.

Salam Sagheer, a Licensed Clinical Dietitian/Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator from Abu Dhabi, UAE, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Ms.Sagheer completed her clinical nutrition/dietician education and training at Al Baath University in Syria. In addition, she has been Certified as a Diabetes Educator by the Imperial College of London Diabetes Center and received Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE), certified by the World Obesity Federation.

She is currently practicing at Burjeel Medical City Hospital.in Abu Dhabi. where she is an integral member of the bariatric surgery team and Lead Clinical Bariatric Dietitian and Diabetes Educator. Her career is distinguished by a commitment to clinical excellence, a robust foundation in dietetics and nutrition, and an unwavering passion for professional growth. Dr. Jessica Erickson is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of Texas, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

She is an Army Veteran and a Navy wife, whose practice, Hearts and Minds Counseling, is focused on helping Veterans and families in need. In addition, Dr. Erickson has been a guest lecturer at Texas Women’s University.

Her education and training include an MS in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University and, and a Doctorate of Marriage and Family Therapy at Northcentral University. Recognizing that no single method of treatment is effective for everyone, she has continued her professional education and is now certified in 30 nationally recognized training programs, including EMDR Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Kaitlynn Murguia, LCPC

Kaitlynn Murguia, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Before becoming a mental health professional, she served as a Nutritionist providing care in a residential treatment center. Recognizing the overlap between mental health
and nutrition led to her earning a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a specialization in Addictions Counseling. Kaitlynn primarily works with individuals seeking to improve their relationships with themselves, their body, food, exercise, or with their loved ones. She has completed the Level 1 and Level 2 curriculum of the Gottman Method, which is a preferred, evidence-based approach to marriage and relationship counseling. Kaitlynn also works with survivors of various traumas, individuals with personality disorders, LGBTQ2S individuals, as well as adults with mood disorders or life transition concerns.
