Corina Baez, BS

Corina Baez, a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, trained in the Dominican Republic, and currently resides in Bergenfield, NJ, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program she was credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Corina completed her specialized training in medicine and nutrition at the Institute of Technology in Santo Domingo and in New Jersey, she received post graduate advanced training in diabetes at the Association of Diabetes and Education Specialties. She is currently practicing at the Center of Adult Medicine and Preventive Care, in Passaic, NJ.

AABC awarded her a scholarship in their Bariatric Certification and Credentialing Program. Her professional training and commitment to public health will further the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity, and related disorders.

Dr. Debra Gold, Psy.D., a Licensed Clinical Psychologist from Scottsdale, Arizona, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Dr. Gold has over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field with various populations in numerous settings, mainly with young adults and geriatric populations. Currently, she conducts psychological evaluations for medical pre-surgical procedures including bariatric surgery. Dr. Gold completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Doctorate in Psychology at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology.

Recognizing the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led to her fellowship with AABC. Because of her commitment to bariatric care, AABC awarded her an academic scholarship. Her extensive professional training and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.

Leen Abu Hijleh, BSN, Awarded National Bariatric Board Certification

Leen Abu Hijleh

Leen Abu Hijleh, a Clinical Nurse and Bariatric Nutritionist from Amman, Jordan, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program she was credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Ms. Hijleh, completed her Clinical Nursing Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Jordan in Amman. She then received a Diploma in Therapeutic Nutrition at Aqaba University of Technology, as well as Baki University in the UK.

She is an Integrated Health member of the Jordanian Society for Obesity Surgery (JSOS), the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorder (IFSO). In addition, she is certified by IFSO in Advanced Bariatric Nutrition as well as in Metabolic and Bariatric Accreditation/Quality Improvement program (MBSAQIP).

Currently she is practicing at Gastrointestinal, Bariatric & Metabolic Center-Jordan Hospital (GBMC), where she is an integral member of the multidisciplinary metabolic and surgery team, and serves as their Bariatric Coordinator.

Joan Buckley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Hamilton, NJ, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). Lori Streator is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor from Bradenton, Florida, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors, (AABC). Dr. Yolanda King, a Licensed Professional Counselor from Americus, Georgia, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Dr. King earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College, Master of Science in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Valdosta State University, and her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) from California Southern University. In addition, she is an adjunct professor and certified school counselor in Georgia and holds several certifications in the mental health field. Dr. King is the author of Hip Hop Affirmations: Giving Life to Words – A Self-Care Nurturing Journal.

Dr. King is the CEO of Affirmative Transformation Services, a mental health counseling, coaching and consulting firm. Her doctoral research focused on the stigma of mental health treatment in the African American community.
