CONTINUING PROFESSSIONAL EDUCATION: MODULE (I) MODERATION

SELF-PACED 20 HOUR ONLINE CEU DESCRIPTION

Module (I) of our continuing professional education series is entitled Moderation. It offers a case history portrayal of a formally obese man, who ironically achieved eating in moderation by eating immoderately.

By defying societal “fat people” rules he was able to shed both unwanted weight and most importantly irrational beliefs the beliefs that triggered negative emotions, automatic thoughts and the dysregulated eating behaviors that contributed to his lifelong obesity.

While this is a single case study, bariatric professionals will recognize many behavioral and personality characteristics that are common to many of the patients they serve.

Perhaps this module will also help professionals shed some of their own irrational beliefs and automatic thoughts and ultimately provide improved clinical bariatric counseling and education skills.
