Tessa Craig, MS, LMFT, LPC, LCDC, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in Bariatric Science, she was credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC) on June 22, 2014.
Tessa received a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science from Cameron University at Lawton, in Oklahoma. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). She is currently working for the Department of Defense counseling soldiers who have a co-occurring diagnosis of substance dependence and mental illness. She is a Clinical Fellow with both the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the Oklahoma Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

Tessa Craig had bariatric surgery in September 2011 and has maintained a weight loss of 205 pounds. This life-changing experience has provided her with special insight and empathy for bariatric patients and fostered her commitment to become a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC). She is eager to begin working with individuals suffering from the spectrum of obesities. She is currently living in Lawton, Oklahoma with her husband and two daughters.
Board Certified Bariatric Professionals are already licensed/certified health and education professionals. They include medical doctors, educators, psychologists, nurses, nutritionists and other disciplines that engage in research, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of obesities and related disorders.
The pandemic of obesity and the need for specialized Bariatric Science led to the development of AABC that now has a national and international fellowship.
Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors affirms that its follows have successfully completed all requisite training and education and must continue their specialized training and education to maintain Board Certification
