Faten Bayado, MSc, CDE
Faten Bayado, MSc, CDE, a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board Certified, Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Ms. Faten completed her graduate professional degree in Nutrition and Food Technology from Jordan University of Science & Technology, 2008. She is a Registered Clinical Dietitian and was certified as a Diabetes Educator by the Imperial College of London Diabetes Center in 2017.

Currently, she is practicing at Health plus Diabetes and Endocrinology Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She is an integral member of their multidisciplinary team that implements state-of-the-art treatment protocols for patients with diabesity.
Her volunteer community public health work includes, guest speaking engagements at various events, and consulting to a local elementary school in Hartford Connecticut. She is also cofounder of a lady’s group “Ladies Talk Tea” where the group addresses women’s health and women’s issues.

She has more than 10 years of experience in Jordan and UAE. Over the years she has helped thousands of people to eat and live well by addressing the root causes of an individual’s health concerns by considering their diet, lifestyle and their physical and mental being. She has been a speaker at multiple nutrition conferences, interviewed by local newspapers and TV channels.

Recognition of the obesity pandemic and the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led to her fellowship with AABC. Because of her commitment to bariatric care and public health AABC awarded her an academic scholarship. Her professional accomplishments and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.

Dr. Laurice Howell DrPH, RD, LD, Awarded National Bariatric Board Certification

Dr Laurice Howell
Dr. Laurice Howell a registered dietitian, licensed in the state of Connecticut has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

She earned her Doctoral degree in Public Health from Morgan State university. In addition, she has two master’s degrees: an MS in Human Nutrition from the University of Alabama, and an MPH degree from the University of Connecticut. Her BS in Dietetics is from Andrews University in Michigan.

Dr. Howell worked in various health care and community settings for several years. She currently practices in a Long-Term Care setting in Windsor, CT where she is an integral member of the medical team. Dr Howell is also in private practice (Planned Lifestyle and Nutrition, LLC) in Bloomfield and West Hartford, Connecticut providing services to patients who struggle with weight management and diabetes care.

Her volunteer community public health work includes, guest speaking engagements at various events, and consulting to a local elementary school in Hartford Connecticut. She is also cofounder of a lady’s group “Ladies Talk Tea” where the group addresses women’s health and women’s issues.

Dr. Kathy Lichtenwalter, PhD, LMHC, MCAP, CCS, is a licensed Mental Health Counselor in both Indiana, and Florida. has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

She earned her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Kennedy-Western University. In addition, she has two Masters degrees; Community Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University, Community Psychology from Martin University.

Dr. Lichtenwalter currently practices in two out-patient community centers: Florida Health Care Plans-Daytona Beach, FL, as the Lead Chronic pain evaluator/therapist, Center for Behavioral Medicine-Port Orange, FL. providing services to patients with many diverse therapeutic needs.

Her volunteer community public health work includes, guest speaking engagements at multiple health agencies and she has held leadership positions in grassroots organizations dedicated to increasing awareness of mental health and addictions.

Nicole Papanicolas, MSN, APRN, NP-C, a licensed and certified nurse practitioner from Fairfax, Station, Virginia, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Nicole is an alumnus of George Mason University, where she completed her Nursing and Nurse Practitioner degrees. In addition, she has a degree in Exercise Science and Health Education. She has worked in healthcare for over 18 years in a variety of specialties that include: critical care, neuroscience, perioperative medicine, surgery, and bariatrics.

Currently she is practicing at Lifetime Internal Medicine and is an integral member of their medical team. Lifetime Internal Medicine is a personalized, patient-focused comprehensive center whose mission includes a commitment to long term health and wellness.

Jaye Odom, PsyD, BCBA-D, a clinical psychologist and board-certified behavior analyst, from Albuquerque, New Mexico has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Dr. Odom earned her doctorate degree in psychology from Rutgers University, with specialized concentrations in multiculturalism and pediatrics. She currently works at the University of New Mexico Sandoval Regional Center as a clinical psychologist. She is an integral member of their primary care bariatric teams

Practicing as a generalist, she uses both specialized and transdiagnostic approaches to treat a variety of presenting issues across the lifespan. In addition, Dr. Odom is board certified in behavior analysis at the doctoral level, and provides Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Chikeitha Owens, LPC, CBC Awarded National Bariatric Board Certification

Chikeitha Owens, LPC, CBCChikeitha Owens, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor from Corinth, Texas, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Southwestern Adventist University and her Master of Art in Counseling at Argosy University/Dallas. The scope of her practice includes substance abuse, foster care, teenagers, adults and marriage counseling.

Chikeitha is the founder of Abundance of Hope Counseling that provides Virtual Therapy services in Texas and New Jersey. In addition, she has created W-A-I-T Management, a trauma focused bariatric counseling program. Her public health service includes being a Board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and an active advocate for the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community. Chikeitha is the author of “Living Life for What It Is” “and “Living Life for What It Is Examination Guide.

Recognizing her professional stature in the health care community, commitment to public health and vast clinical experience, AABC awarded her a fellowship scholarship.
