Samantha Hanson, MS, LPC, ATR, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Art Therapist from Appleton, Wisconsin, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). Following completion of specialized education and training in Bariatric Science, she was credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).
Samantha has 11 years of experience across all levels of mental health care, including inpatient, residential, and outpatient clinic settings. She holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in Art Therapy from Springfield College.
Understanding the significant complexities of obesities, Samantha has become trained in bariatric care specifically to address and treat the biopsychosocial implications related to bariatric care. Her diverse clinical experience includes working with children and seniors, and she has provided hospital treatment, residential dementia care and occupational transition services.
Samantha currently provides statewide video telehealth services to Wisconsin residents. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in client-centered, narrative, and trauma-informed care, incorporating elements of CBT, DBT, and Somatic Healing.
She offers personalized treatment that includes traditional mental health counseling, life coaching as well as art therapy; each treatment plan is personalized and unique. Recognizing the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led her to pursue certification with AABC. Samantha was awarded an academic scholarship for her clinical excellence and dedication to bariatric care.
