Maribel Rivera, RDN/LD, a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist from Lakeland, Florida, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Ms. Rivera completed her professional graduate education at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has over 20 years of experience as a clinical Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. She has worked in multiple health care settings including hospitals, long term care facilities and outpatient diabetes education and weight management programs

Currently she serves as the Diabetes Education Program Coordinator at Advent Health Zephyrhills. Maribel Is bilingual and speaks Spanish and English fluently. She is passionate about public health education and dedicated to the Advent Health Mission …to help the people in our care create a life of whole health by healing their bodies, strengthening their minds, and lifting their spirits.

Recognizing her professional stature, clinical skills and commitment to bariatric care and treatment, AABC awarded her a fellowship scholarship. Her professional accomplishments and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.
