Kelly Fernandez, RDN, CBC

Kelly Fernandez, RDN, CBC, a Registered Dietician/Nutritionist, practicing in the Space Coast area of Florida, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Ms. Fernandez obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Keiser University and completed a specialized internship at Health First, in Melbourne Fla.

Currently she is a practicing clinical dietitian in Melbourne, where she manages acute/subacute, rehabilitation and post-surgical patients. She commented, “My enthusiasm and passion for nutrition came when I was personally diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and realized I needed to make lifestyle changes. This personal experience was my impetus to help others with nutrition and other lifestyle behaviors.”

Realizing how mistreated and misunderstood the obese population is, led to her seeking a fellowship with AABC and becoming a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor. Her scholarship, professional experience and commitment to public health will further the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.
