Hannah Short, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Waco, Texas, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she has been credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).
Hannah earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California and has been practicing in the mental health field for 9 years. She is the proprietor and psychotherapist at Rooted & Nourished Psychotherapy, where she provides services in Waco and virtual therapy across Texas.
She specializes in working with individuals navigating eating disorders, disordered eating, perinatal and postpartum mental health, and bariatric surgery support. Her work includes conducting psychosocial evaluations for bariatric surgery, as well as providing ongoing therapeutic support to help clients build emotional safety, improve their relationship with food and body, and sustain long-term outcomes.
In addition to her bariatric certification, Hannah has completed advanced training in EMDR and her approach integrates evidence-based practices with a compassionate, trauma-informed lens.
Recognizing the importance of addressing both the psychological and emotional aspects of bariatric care led her to pursue specialized training with AABC. Her professional experience and clinical approach support AABC’s mission of advancing best practices in the care, treatment, and prevention of obesity and related conditions.
