Dr. Rebeca Bright Psy.D, a licensed psychologist from Port Charlotte, Florida has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).
Dr. Bright has a private practice and enjoys working with people of all ages, offering counseling to children, adolescents, adults as well as the elderly as they cope with life’s transitions. She uses a developmental approach to help individuals from across their life span identify their strengths and meet the challenges that are faced in each stage in life.
While obtaining her doctorate at Argosy University in Tampa, Florida, Rebeca completed a health psychology internship that gave her a wide variety of experiences. From conducting child assessments to counseling the elderly in nursing homes, Rebeca was able to see how the body, mind and spirit work together to guide and support an individual’s journey in life.
Her recognition of the biopsychosocial implications of obesities and the need for specialized competency in bariatric science, inspired her post-doctoral fellowship training and certification with AABC. AABC awarded her a fellowship scholarship in their Bariatric Certification and Credentialing Program. Her clinical experience, scholarship and commitment to public health will further the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care and treatment of those suffering from obesity and related disorders.
