Dr. Michele Kasson, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist in the State of New York has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Dr. Kasson has been a practicing psychologist serving adults and children for over 25 years.
Most recently she has worked in the New York Department of Mental Health at the New York City Children’s Center. There she has recognized the increasing incidence of childhood obesity, particularly in children taking psychiatric medications.

Dr. Kasson was an associate professor at Touro University and now teaches at Yeshiva University in addition she has been a member of the AABC Board of Advisors for more than 15 years.

Recognizing the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led to her fellowship with AABC. AABC awarded her an academic scholarship. Her extensive professional training and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment, and prevention of obesity and related disorders.
