Dr. Kimberly Benson Durst, a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) from Sanger, Texas, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Dr. Benson Durst earned her doctorate degree in Christian Counseling at Jacksonville Theological Seminary. For 12 years she served as the President of A Bridge of Hope Ministries. During her tenure, she worked with victims of human trafficking, pre/post release, prison inmates, facilitated support groups and provided many training opportunities within the community. She is co-founder of, It’s Up 2 You Counseling, in Sanger, Texas, where she currently practices.

Recognizing the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led her to pursue certification with AABC, where she was awarded an academic scholarship for her vast clinical excellence and dedication to bariatric care. Her certification as a BCBC will help advance the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment, and prevention of obesity and related disorders.
