Dr. Ali A. Alshahrani, a Licensed Physician and Diabetologist from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science he was recently credentialed as a Board-C Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Dr. Ali completed his Medical Degree (MBBS) at King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia. He received post-graduate family medicine training at the Saudi Council of Health Specialties at the Armed Forces Hospital. In addition, he completed a Diabetes fellowship training program at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh. The World Obesity Federation certified him as a Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE)

He currently is a practitioner in the Endocrinology and Diabetes Department and an integral member of their bariatric surgery team at the Armed Forces Hospital. He also is an active trainer in their post-graduate fellowship program. Dr. Ali’s work reflects his significant contribution to the evolution of metabolic and bariatric care and treatment.

Recognizing the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led to his fellowship with AABC. AABC awarded him an academic scholarship because of his commitment to bariatric care. His extensive professional training and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment, and prevention of obesity and related disorders.
