Angela K. Gomez, Ph.D., Board Certified Bariatric Educator

Gomez, Ph.D., Manager of Learning Services and ACPE Administrator for Cardinal Health Pharmacy Solutions, has been awarded  by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in Bariatric Science, she was credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Educator (CBE) on February 11, 2013.

Dr. Gomez has over fifteen years of experience in the fields of adult education, instructional systems design, performance improvement, change management, and project management. Angela’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, a Master of Science degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Dr. Gomez has successfully applied instructional systems design (ISD) principles to eLearning and blended training applications for corporations and government agencies. She is a also member of the American Society for Training and Development, the International Society of Performance Improvement, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (Supporting Associate), and the Association for Hospital Medical Education. Dr. Gomez also serves as a contributing editor for the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and Performance Improvement Quarterly.

She has been with Cardinal Health since 2005 and manages the continuing education offerings for nearly 3,000 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across the country.

Board Certified Bariatric Professionals are already licensed/certified health and education professionals. They include medical doctors, educators, psychologists, nurses, nutritionists and other disciplines that engage in research, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of obesities and related disorders.

The worldwide pandemic of obesity and the need for specialized Bariatric Science led to the development of AABC that now has a national and international fellowship.

Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors affirms that its follows have successfully completed all requisite training and education and must continue their specialized training and education to maintain Board Certification
