Alice Martin, a Bariatric Behavioral Health and Wellness Specialist from Fredericksburg, Virginia has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). Following completion of a specialized education and training program in Bariatric Science, she was credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Alice completed her Human Services academic training at Old Dominion University and currently serves as an integral member of the multidisciplinary bariatric team at Mary Washington Weight Loss Center. She provides counseling for bariatric patients pre- and post-bariatric surgery. Alice also leads a weekly support group for medical and surgical weight loss patients, engages and invites community and national experts to present at support groups and collaborates with community fitness centers to develop specific programs for her patients.

In addition to her professional experience, Alice brings years of personal experience as a bariatric patient herself, allowing her to connect with patients through both clinical knowledge and lived understanding.

Recognizing the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led her to pursue certification with AABC. She was awarded an academic scholarship for her clinical excellence and dedication to bariatric care. Her certification as a BCBC will help advance the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment, and prevention of obesity and related disorders.
