Rosabel Ramos, LPC

Rosabel Ramos, a Licensed Professional Counselor from Laredo, Texas, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Rosabel attended the University of Texas-Pan American and earned an MA in Clinical Psychology. Currently, she is the director of Student Counseling Services at Texas A&M International University. With more than nine years of clinical experience, her areas of expertise include young adults, depression, anxiety, LGBTQ+, codependency, relationships, and chronic trauma. She is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor and is certified to provide Accelerated Resolution therapy.

Recognizing the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led to her fellowship with AABC., AABC awarded her an academic scholarship. Her extensive professional training and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment, and prevention of obesity and related disorders.

Karen-Sue Newby, Psy.D., Awarded National Bariatric Board Certification

Karen-Sue Newby, Psy.D.

Dr. Karen-Sue Newby Psy.D., a specialist in sport, performance, health, and recovery psychology from North, Texas has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Dr. Newby holds a doctorate in Sports Performance and Health psychology. She has eleven years of experience as a health and wellness education professional. She is also a National Wellness Institute, Certified Health and Wellness Practitioner, Certified Dementia and Alzheimer Practitioner, and a Nationally Certified Psychiatric Technician.

Rola Al-Talafha BCBC, Awarded National Bariatric Board Certification

Rola Al-Talafha, BCBC

Rola Al-Talafha, a Clinical Dietitian/Nutritionist from Abu Dhabi, UAE, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (BCBC).

Ms. Al-Talafha completed her clinical nutrition/dietician Bachelor degree at Jordan University of Science and Technology. In addition, she has been certified as a Diabetes Educator by the Imperial College of London Diabetes Center, Scope certified by the World Obesity Federation, and a member of the Jordanian Dietitian Association .
She has more than 17 years of clinical experience and is currently practicing at NMC Hospital in Abu Dhabi where she is an integral member of the multidisciplinary Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery team and serves as their Clinical Nutritionist, Diabetic educator and Bariatric Educator.
