Timisha Malone, LICSW

Timisha Malone, LICSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Epping, New Hampshire, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Timisha earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at New England College and her Master’s in Social Work at the University of New Hampshire. She has also completed post-graduate extensive training in multiple evidence-based therapies. In addition she has received professional continuing education at Oxford University – King’s College.

Timisha is a published author and editorial board advisor at The Bariatric Times, member and Mindset Expert of Bari Nation. As a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery she is a presenter and course director. Additionally she is an Obesity Action Coalition Champion and presenting author with the Association for Psychological Sciences.

Because of her extensive training, professional stature in the bariatric community, and her clinical accomplishments, AABC awarded her an academic fellowship scholarship. Undoubtedly, she will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.

Dr. Bridin McKenna, MSC, Psy.D, First UK Psychologist Awarded Bariatric Board Certification

Dr. Bridin McKenna, MSC, Psy.D

Dr. Bridin McKenna, a clinical psychologist from Belfast, Ireland, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Dr. McKenna is a highly experienced clinical psychotherapist with a post-graduate diploma in neurolinguistics psychotherapy. Founder and lead therapist at Life Therapies Clinic in Belfast, she is recognized as a leading eating disorder clinician, obesity specialist, trainer, speaker and consultant. As an advocate for people who struggle to manage their weight, she is driving awareness of obesity-related stigma and weight phobia to educate and inform health professionals and public health campaigns about the consequences of this bias. She is uniquely qualified to offer psychiatric and psychological pre-bariatric surgery assessments and is passionate about informing and educating on the dangers to patients who seek these life changing surgeries abroad.

In addition, Dr. McKenna is an alumnus of the 2018 Train the Trainer in Obesity Prevention and Management with the European Association for the Study of Obesity. She was approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as an affiliate trainer for the National Centre for Eating Disorders and was honored to deliver their Master Practitioner Program for Eating Disorders and Obesity in Ireland.

Recognizing Dr. McKenna’s, professional stature, unique training, vast clinical experience, and dedication to public health, AABC awarded her a fellowship scholarship for our certification program. Her Board Certification as a CBC will further the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care and treatment and prevention of obesities and related disorders.
