Dr. Julie Oliveira-Payton, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker from Honolulu, Hawaii, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric

Dr. Julie Oliveira Payton, LCSW, CBC

Counselors, (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC). She is the first from Hawaii to attain this certification.

Dr. Julie Oliveira-Payton earned her Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Southern California, along with Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Social Work from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

She is the supervisor for the Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Bariatric Clinical Services. Under her guidance and leadership, the Bariatric Surgery Department has been awarded Bariatric Surgery Comprehensive Center Accreditations for three successive term cycles. In addition to leading the bariatric surgery multi-disciplinary team, she continues to specialize in bariatric surgery assessment and counseling for the past 12 years.

Recognizing her exemplary leadership and bariatric medicine clinical experience, AABC awarded her a fellowship scholarship. Her professional stature, public health accomplishments and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.

Domonique Christian, MS, CBC

Domonique Christian, MS, a nutrition and wellness counselor from Fort Worth, Texas, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board-Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Domonique earned both a public safety and human services master’s degree from Capella University. She has certifications in nutrition and health coaching. Currently she is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and The Obesity Society.

Domonique personally has been a bariatric patient. This life changing experience has inspired her to pursue a career in bariatric counseling and help guide others in their personal journeys.

Her personal experience and recognition of the obesity pandemic, the need for specialized training in Bariatric Science led to her receiving a fellowship from AABC. Because of her commitment to bariatric care, AABC awarded her an academic scholarship.  Her professional stature and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.

Rebecca Barclay, MA, NCC, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor, from Harrisburg, Pa, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of

Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science she was recently credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Rebecca earned a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Messiah College in Mechanicsburg. She also has the distinction of being credentialed as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors.

In her clinical practice she treats children, teenagers, and adults. Her clinical experience includes community and school-based therapy, community mental health clinics, and group private practice.

Rebecca Cayford, LMHC, a licensed mental health counselor from Palm Bay, Florida, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric

Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science, she was recently credentialed as a Board Certified. Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Rebecca earned her Professional Counselor master’s degree from Southeastern University. In addition to her mental health training, she has accumulated 40 years of clinical experience as a Licensed and Registered Nurse, with specialty in post-operative bariatric surgery care and treatment.

Rebecca has established a private mental health practice, Cayford Counseling, LLC, in Melbourne, FL. In addition, she serves as the pre-bariatric surgery evaluator for Advanced Surgical and Weight Loss Institute, in Rockledge, FL.

Recognizing her vast and unique clinical experience and training in the physical and social sciences, AABC awarded her a fellowship scholarship. Her professional accomplishments and clinical experience will help fulfill the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.
