Nashaat Tawfik, MBA, B.Sc. Pharmacy, CBE

Nashaat Tawfik, MBA, B.Sc., a pharmacist from Saudi Arabia, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science he was recently credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Educator (CBE).

Nashaat earned his Masters of Business Administration at Leicester University in England and his Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science at Cairo University in Egypt. He has also been certified by The World Obesity Federation after completing their Strategic Centre for Obesity Education (SCOPE) program.

Currently he serves as the Obesity Business Director for Novo Nordisk in SA. He has been instrumental in the professional marketing of the novel anti-obesity pharmaceutical, Saxenda. In addition, at Novartis Pharma he headed up the Cardio Metabolic Business Unit in SA. In this capacity he helped market pharmaceuticals that targeted many of the diseases associated with obesity (heart disease, hypertension and diabetes). As an educator he has conducted many obesity management programs for health professionals as well as community health programs for the public.

In recognition of his pharmacology expertise, intense interest in obesity treatment and prevention and commitment to public health education, AABC awarded him a fellowship and he has been recently Board Certified and Credentialed as a Certified Bariatric Educator (CBE).  He will further the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related diseases.

Dr. Ahmed Alkhalaf Awarded National Bariatric Board Certification

Dr. Ahmed Alkhalaf BCs, MSc, PhD, CBC

Dr. Ahmed Alkhalaf, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized fellowship training and education program in bariatric science he was recently credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC).

Dr Alkhalaf has 19 years of experience as a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). He received a Bachelor of Psychology from King Saud University, then obtained a Master of Science in Abnormal Clinical Psychology from Wales University and a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology from Plymouth University in the UK.

Currently he serves as a clinical health psychologist consultant for Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare in the Psychiatry & Mental Health Services Department. He is an integral member of the bariatric team, conducting pre-bariatric surgery psychological evaluation and provides consultation with regard to the overall psychological care of bariatric surgery patients. In addition, he provides clinical supervision and training for psychologists and lectures to the psychiatry residency Saudi Board and Family Medicine Saudi Board.

Recognizing his vast experience and stature as a clinician, educator and researcher, AABC awarded him a fellowship in their Bariatric Certification and Credentialing Program.

His scholarship, professional acumen and commitment to public health will further the AABC global mission of providing best practices in the care, treatment and prevention of obesity and related disorders.
