Daniel Goldman, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist and resident of Sarasota, Florida has been awarded National Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialized training and education program he was credentialed as a Board Certified Bariatric Counselor (CBC) in June of 2015.
Dr. Goldman earned his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Iowa State University. He is currently president-elect of the Lower West Coast chapter of the Florida Psychological Association and is an active member of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Goldman is in private practice in Sarasota and Port Charlotte Fl. His study of
obesity began when he recognized how people who struggle with weight, while
often not mentally ill, experienced significant levels of emotional distress and failed
to feel fully alive. Today, he assists clients with weight loss and preparation for
bariatric surgery, but emphasizes mental health and positive self-esteem at any size.
In addition to his specialty in bariatric psychology, he helps adults of all ages with mind-body health, depression, stress, and life transitions.
Board Certified Bariatric Professionals are already licensed/certified health and education professionals. They include medical doctors, professional educators, mental health professionals, nurses, nutritionists and other related disciplines that engage in research, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of obesities and related disorders.
Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors affirms that their fellows have successfully completed all requisite training and education. They must continue their specialized training and education to maintain Board Certification.
