Dr. Joseph Indelicato is Director of Research for the American Association of Bariatric Counselors. In addition to being an assistant professor at Touro College School of Health Science in New York City, Dr. Indelicato holds a variety of administrative positions at the college such as chair of undergraduate psychology, chairperson of the Health Sciences?Institutional Review Board, and chairperson of the Building Education Bridges Committee. For Project Aspire, a public health initiative of the Children’s Health Education Foundation.
Dr. Indelicato has taught undergraduate courses in psychology, and graduate courses in statistics, research methodology, and social work policy. He also has provided thesis advisement on dissertations including statistical analysis and research design. He is a published author of numerous research articles and presentations.
Allan Geliebter,Ph.D. is a research psychologist with an MA in biology and a PhD in Psychology from Columbia University. Currently, he is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is also a Professor of Psychology at the Touro Graduate School of Education and Psychology. He is licensed by New York State to practice clinical psychology.
His research interests include: a) psychological and biological aspects of Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and the Night Eating Syndrome (NES) in overweight and obese individuals, b) brain imaging and binge eating, c) effects of exercise on body composition in the treatment of obesity, d) environmental approaches for obesity intervention, such as price discounts on healthy foods. He has several NIH grants to explore these topics.
Dr. Michelle Kasson has been a clinical psychologist for 30 years. She is currently a supervising psychologist at Children's Day Hospital, a treatment program located in Manhattan and part of the Queens Children's Psychiatric Center. Dr. Kasson works with children
who exhibit a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses and with parents in family consultation, parenting skills and the development of individualized behavioral programs.
Dr.Kasson also works with schools and parents in obtaining appropriate school placements and services for the children. She has offices for private practice in Manhattan where she sees children and families for individual therapy, family therapy, psychological/psychoeducational assessment, remediation and advocacy. She is a board member of the Walter Kaner Children's Foundation, a charitable organization serving the special needs of children New York City .
David Robinson,M.S.Ed is a Fitness Expert and Health Educator who has worked in the field of Fitness and Health Education with students ranging in ages from 5 - 22 years old for over Twenty-Two years. He received his Masters in counseling education from Alfred University and is a Certified Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise. Mr. Robinson also holds certifications as a Child Fitness Specialist (ECITS), Certified Kettle Bell Instructor by Kettle Bell Concepts, and is a 7th degree Black Belt. As a Health and Fitness educator Mr. Robinson has developed numerous programs and lessons that promote healthier lifestyles for people of all ages by emphasizing making better food choices and exercising in moderation.
David Robinson also runs a fitness Consultant Business, RFITT. “Where Fitness Meets Reality?is his company’s mantra. His consultants help clients realize their fitness reality by accessing their everyday lifestyle then incorporating fitness into that lifestyle.
Amy Hendel,R-PA is a Physician Assistant, Nutritionist and a recognizable medical and lifestyle reporter, columnist and health host. She’s been seen on Today, The Early Show, Rachel Ray, Extra!, The 700 Club, Fox News and is an expert blog columnist at healthcentral.com and healthcorps.net. She’s hosted health talk shows on PBS and on Westwood One radio. She also hosted and produced over 60 health segments for HouseSmarts.
As a Health Coach, Ms. Hendel trains and councils patients with her own unique blend of nutrition, fitness, and psychology for the whole family. Her new book The 4 Habits of Healthy Families (BenBella Books) released in June 2010. It offers a unique family team approach for shifting habits in the home so the family becomes a “Healthy Family for Life.?lt;/p>
Ms. Hendel is also a member of The United Soybean Board advisory panel and currently hosts and produces streaming health videos for ivillage.com.
